CAROLA BRAVO EN : Body, Maps & Territories: Personal Geographies

·         Nuestra apreciada artista plástico Carola Bravo, quien desde hace un año reside en Miami, está participando en la Aluna Art Foundation junto a otros importantes artistas en la exposición: Body, Maps & Territories: Personal Geographies, curada por la talentosa Adriana Herrera. En un extraordinario video Carola confronta el dilema entre mapas y representación, con la duplicación del espacio real y escenas de presencia-ausencia de su propio cuerpo trabajando en el trazado de rayas horizontales grandes en una pared. Los espectadores piensan que la ven ejecutando las líneas cuando ella realmente no lo está haciendo sino está presente entre ellos en la sala. Reminiscencias a la famosa novela "La Invención de Morel" de Bioy Casares, al recordar que esta novela nos demuestra que la aprehensión de la realidad destruye la triada espacio, tiempo y materia... Hasta El significado de identidad está apremiado frente a la posibilidad del anonimato.
En sala aparte ella presenta 3 hermosas obras de intervenciones de tipo geográfico de placas de mármol, junto a una presentación de sus obras públicas y privadas

the DCOTA Stars of Design 2013 Award for Art

 

Jorge Blanco was presented with the DCOTA Stars of Design 2013 Award. The Design Center of the Americas, President/CEO Charles S. Cohen honored the 2013 Stars of Design. Six awards were given to this year’s Stars of Design winners. This award recognizes professionals who have attained distinguished recognition in their fields. All award recipients were selected by a renowned panel of design experts and members of the national, regional and South Florida media.

The recipients are: Emilia Karram, Lifetime Achievement; Bernardo Fort-Brescia, Architecture; Jorge Blanco, Art; Jonathan Adler, Product design; Stanley Matz, Landscape design; Eric Cohler, Interior design; Seth Browarnik, Photography.

For over 20 years DCOTA has served the design community attracting top internationally renowned architects, designers and their clients. DCOTA is part of the Cohen Design Center quartet, with sister locations in Manhattan (D&D Building), in West Hollywood, California and in Houston, Texas.

Jorge has been awarded 16 public art commissions in different cities in the United States. He has also created numerous works for private collectors in different parts of the world, such as Brazil, Venezuela, Uruguay, Argentina, Germany, Belgium, China, Indonesia, Japan, the Dominican Republic and the USA.
